Wow, well it’s been a right ole pace here at VMworld Europe. I had hoped to have had a few postings up over the last day but the amount of free time and the lack of a broadly available wireless connection has meant it’s not been possible. Maybe I’ll be able to get a bloggers pass for next year that will get me into an area with a decent wireless connection.
During the sessions I have been madly typing notes into OneNote for my own reference and also for a large blog posting I will do once I get back to the UK which will outline the VMware announcements and what new products we can expect to see this year.
One thing that has been most obvious by its absence is the talk by VMware of any product release dates. The general feeling here was that a rough ballpark date may have been announced but unfortunately all we have is a “we’ll release it when it’s ready” message. That said this is better than a rushed product that we’d all moan about because it was full of bugs. There are rumours of the release of vSphere in the first half of this year though we will just have to wait and see. If this doesn’t occur then I’d put money on the release being scheduled with VMworld in the US later in the year.
Until I get time (and a working wireless connection) to write up a comprehensive list of new products for this year check out the following two keynote speeches from Paul Martz and Stephen Herrod. If you don’t have enough time to watch both I’d recommend Stephen Herrod’s keynote speech as it is more technically orientated.
