I was reading a thread off one of Jason Boche’s articles over at Boche.net that is discussing when we will actually be able to get our grubby mitts on VMware vSphere. As you know vSphere was officially announced on April 21st with a May 21st date given for it’s release.. Many, including myself assumed, incorrectly, that this is when it’d start shipping though it does in fact appear that this is actually the date on which orders will start to be taken for it. At the time of writing this the shipping date is still TBC but I’m guessing/hoping it won’t be too far off after this date.
Head on over to Jason’s article here to read the thread and also have a look at screenshots of some of the funky new features that come with vSphere.
Also for more vSphere pricing and information on the availability of VI3 head on over to this VMware page.

Hiya Simon, we’ve been told by our VMware Channel that ship date is “1st half of 2009″.. not for sure how much more detail I can get on that due to NDA and partner agreements but I’ll just say search for the new iPhone possible release date and we’re talking the same ship date for vSphere
Hi there,
Thanks for the steer on the dates – appreciated
Will certainly be good when it actually starts to ship.
Cheers,
Si
