Hi Victor,

Check out my article here on installing ESX on an HP Proliant ML110 G5

http://www.techhead.co.uk/vmware-esx-lab-installing-esxi-35-on-an-hp-proliant-ml110-g5

It sounds like you need to change the onboard disk controllers ‘Native Mode Operation’ from the default setting of ‘Auto’ to ‘Serial ATA’ in the BIOS.

Hope this fixes your problem.

Cheers,

Hi there,

I'm trying to install ESXi 3.5 on a Proliant ML110 G4, but I'm getting the "unable to find supported device to write". It's a non-hot-plug sata model. What kind of Bios settings do I need to enable?

Thanks

Hyperthreading and VT (Virtualization support) are 2 completely different things.
Hypertheading does not need to be enabled for ESX. Most people even recommend against enabling it in ESX.

If you do not enable VT (virtualization) in the BIOS, ESX will run fine too, however you will not be able to create 64bit guests, only 32bit.

Hi Guys,

I have got HP ProLiant ML110 G4 Xeon 3040 1860-2MB/1066 Dual Core, 1x512MB, Non Hot Plug SATA 160GB, DVD/CD-RW which I have installed ESX 3.0.2 and all ruuning fine but I had to buy a RAID controller so that it can see the SATA drives as SCSI.

Regaring how to enable VT in bios, not sure how to go about it but i believe i have enabled in bios and can someone point me on how to enable the VT when booting up.

When I checked the configuration of the ESX host machine in VI client, it says Hyperthreading is Disabled (Enabled on restart) (Not Active)*.

Is VT a seperate technology from Hyperthreading? Can any of you that has the ML110 G4 and got VT enable to check the configuration of the host ESX and see if Hyperthreading is enabled.

thanks
