I have come down with a really bad case of the flu and have been unable to move out of bed for the last 4 days so unfortunately am no further along with finishing off my article on running ESXi 3.5 on the ML115 Quad Core.
I hope this thing starts to shift shortly at which time I will be able to respond to all your queries and comments – keep them coming.
Thanks,
Simon

Hi Si,
Sorry to hear that mate, must be due to the sudden change in weather.
Get well soon.

Hi Si
I feel for ya, I have something similar though not as bad.
Got a very simple question for you, I am lucky enough to have a Quad Dual Core Dell 6850 with 32GB RAM connected to a NetApp FAS270C.
I have in the past had hyperthreading enabled on the VMWARE ESX 3.0.1 (soon to upgraded to 3.5 UPD3) hosting server (6850), am I right in that this has a detrimental affect on virtualized SQL Server 2005 hosts???
I disabled it and any VM running Microsoft 2003 Server alone appears to have improved quite significantly. Running SQLIO I am now getting disk bottlenecks rather than CPU (which in the old days was always CPU).
Have you had experience with this at all?
Thanks
Si – I don’t believe a word of it
I’ll keep it under my hat though as to why you’re really off the radar. Something to do with writing ‘that’ article on VCP study resources no doubt?
Seriously though, get well soon mate – my RSS reader thinks Techhead has disappeared off the face of the earth….
Thanks all – for keeping the messages coming in. I’m now back and ready to write up some new articles.
Hi Rog,
Back in the land of the living thanks.
Thanks for reminding me about the VCP study resource article – I’ll make a start on that.
Should hopefully start having a few more articles coming on through now. Let me know what’s useful and what isn’t.
All the best,
Si
