I put together this basic graph to show and compare all of the maximum theoretical bus speeds of various interfaces some, or most of which, you’d come across in your daily life working in IT.
It is important to note that these are the maximum theoretical throughput speeds of the buses to which devices such as hard disks are attached so like most things “theoretical” you’d probably never actually achieve these speeds for sustained periods of time. That said with large disk arrays and the like you’d begin to come close.
I find looking at things in graph form to make comparisons much easier than juggling and comparing numbers in my head. I hope you find this useful too.
