I’ve just installed Microsoft Windows 7 onto one of my HP ML110’s. The install process couldn’t have been smoother with the entire installation only taking around 30 minutes (approx) and the OS detecting the SATA based hard disk without the need for any additional drivers (remember the good ole Windows XP days).

Although I hadn’t heard anything to suggest the contrary I was keen to see whether the VMware Infrastructure Client (VIC) would run under Windows 7 without any issues. 

The install of VMware Infrastructure Client completed without error and  I successfully tested it’s basic stability by adding, renaming and deleting VMs along with changing VM configuration parameters and a handful of other settings.  The only thing I haven’t tested is it’s stability when running it over time.  I will run it solidly for a day or so and will report back with any errors or issues. 

All of this shouldn’t really come as a surprise as from what I gather Windows 7 does share much of the underlying core code that can be found in Windows Vista.

In all this has ended up being a rather unspectacular  posting though I thought it may help answer the question that others may have been wondering.
