vWire have just released a rather nifty free VMware ESX vMotion health check and troubleshooting tool called
‘OpsCheck’. In a nutshell this is what OpsCheck does:
“OpsCheck helps ensure your systems are configured to support VMware VMotion by rapidly analyzing ESX 3.0, 3.5, and ESXi hypervisors, and provides troubleshooting guidance for VMware VMotion.”
Probably not something that you’ll use everyday but when you are having ESX vMotion issues then it will potentially prove most valuable and time saving.
Whilst you’re on the vWire site why not check out their other free utility, ‘ConfigCheck’.
ConfigCheck “tests your ESX 3.0 and 3.5 configurations and provides detailed remediation guidance to help you rapidly bring your system into a secure state.”
Two more useful utilities to add to your ESX toolbox.

Simon, nice job on the site and this blog.
I was looking for the OpsCheck tool, have used in the past but can’t find it anywhere.
Just a heads up, I know this post is over 12 months old, but TripWire seem to have changed their product set some and have removed OpsCheck, the ConfigCheck tool is still available however.
Do you have any updated links for this site or a copy that you could sent to me?
Keep up the good work
cheers
Wil
