HP NC4000 Laptop – “Base System Device” Driver

After performing a reinstall of Windows XP Pro on my HP NC4000 laptop there is a yellow exclamation mark against the ‘Base System Device’. This is after downloading and installing all of the supposed necessary drivers from the HP drivers website.

This ‘Base System Device’ relates to the cardbus of the laptop. To resolve this issue download and install the following driver from this link (which incidently isn’t on the HP driver download site against this model of laptop): Click Here

Aparently this also works for the HP4010 model.
