I was upgrading a couple of HP Command View EVA instances from version v7.0.1 to v8.00.02 and came across the following error message after running the v8.00.0 installer.
"A previous Master Installer version has been (6.x.x/7.x.x) detected on the system. Uninstall the previous version and retry the installation."
I had previously uninstalled Command View EVA v7.0.1 and associated components and rebooted the server.
What you need to do to resolve this error message is delete the following 2 folders (see screen-shot below) from ‘C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Universal’. It would appear that the Command View EVA un-installation process does not clean up these directories.
The installation show now continue without issue…
… Until possibly the end where, depending on what else you have installed on the server there may be a port conflict. If so you will receive the following error message.
To resolve this issue you just need to tell the CIMOM service to use another pair of ports (by default it uses: 5988 and 5989).
To change the ports on which the CIMOM service uses you must change the parameters cxws.http.port and cxws.https.port in the cxws.properties file.
This file is located in the following directory:
<install drive>:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\SMI-S\CXWSCimom\config
Note: To find the available ports on the local system, run the netstat —a command in a command window.
You should now be able to successfully start the HP StorageWorks CIM Object Manager service.
