*** UPDATE – 21st April 2009 ***
Prices on the HP ML110 and ML115 G5’s are once again creeping back up and there is once again very little difference in pricing between suppliers.
ServersPlus are still offering TechHead readers free delivery on all HP Proliant ML110 and ML115 G5 servers. To get this deal you will have to call them – as opposed to order the server(s) online.
Let me know if you come across any good pricing or deals on either the HP ML110, ML115 and associated memory, etc and I will post it to let others know.
Thanks,
Si
*** UPDATE – 21st March 2009 ***
HP have released the ML115 G5 Quad core at a slightly reduced price. With this price reducation however HP are only offering 1 year warranty and a 160GB hard disk as opposed to a 3 year warranty and a 250GB hard disk. The reduction in the length of the warranty will probably be the biggest factor for buyers to go for the slightly more expensive deal though how long this will be around for before only a 1 year warranty model will be offered is unknown.
With the increase in HP Proliant ML110 & ML115 prices over the last 4 or so months the days of sub £120 pricing seem a long and distant memory.
For buying one of these great little servers you are now generally looking at £300+ which is a shame as they are ideal for a home or work VMware ESX or Microsoft Hyper-V test lab. There are some suppliers offering much cheaper prices though when you call them or place your order you find that they aren’t actually carrying stock at this price, if at all.

[...] So I a acquired a 2nd-hand ML110 G4 and added 8Gb RAM – this has served as my vSphere test lab to-date, but I now want to add a 2nd vSphere node and use DRS/HA etc. (looks like no FT for me unfortunately though) – Techhead put me onto a deal that Servers Plus are currently running so I now have 2 x ML110 servers they are also doing quad-core AMD boxes for even less money here – see Techhead for details of how to get free delivery here [...]
not so a great deal because shipping costs e.g. for austria are £54 plus a bank transfer in sterling (except only bank transfer, if you are not in the UK) which will cost 25€.

Hi Fred,
Unfortunately the cost for shipping into Europe from the UK would always cost a bit – though it is very unfortunate about the bank transfer charge. Couldn’t you pay with a Visa card or similar to get around this bank charge?
Cheers,
Si
