Chad’s World – Episode X

EMC

Just to let you all know that a new episode of Chad’s World has just been released.  In this episode Chad will be showing off some “killer vDemos”, vFabric Hyperic and vCenter Ops for Enterprise.  Chad and Wade will then take a look at the Big Data Demo from Pat Gelsinger’s keynote at Oracle Open World (OOW) 2011. I was fortunate enough to be supporting the OOW event and got to see this Big Data Demo live, it was definitely a decent and entertaining demo.  If you haven’t watched Chad’s World before it is worth checking out.

Webex Recording–‘Install & Run the EMC VNX VSA in a vSphere Lab’

EMC VMware

Just a quick post to let you know that the recording of the webex session I took the other day on how to “Install & Run the EMC VNX Virtual Storage Appliance” is now available from the EMC site here (60 minutes in length).  This session provides some high level background on how the EMC VNX hangs together along with the quick and simple step by step process for installing and configuring the VNX VSA.  I also discuss installing the EMC Virtual Storage Integrator (VSI) plugin for VMware vCenter towards the end of the session and demonstrate how to install and configure it.

This session will be of interest to anyone running a VMware vSphere lab environment either at work or home.  Thanks again to everyone who attend the original session last week, I hope you found it of use.

Free Webcast – Install & Run the EMC VNX VSA in a vSphere Lab

EMC VMware

I’ll be taking a free web-cast on the EMC VNX Virtual Storage Appliance (VSA) today (Thursday 11th August 2011) in which I will demonstrate how to quickly and easily get the EMC VNX VSA up and running in your own work or home VMware vSphere lab environment.  For good measure I’ll also be covering, and demonstrating, how to install and use the EMC Virtual Storage Integrator (VSI) Unified plug-in for VMware vCenter.  It’s going to be a full 60 minutes though I will keep it fast paced to ensure we cover all the main things you need to know about the VNX and VNX VSA to get you up and running.  I should point out that both the VNX VSA and VSI plugin are both free to download and use though I must highlight that the VNX VSA isn’t supported or to be used for production use.  It is only suited to small vSphere lab environments or for demonstration purposes.

EMC VNX VSA and VMware vSphere Webex

Running a VSA offers a number of benefits to those who don’t want or have the budget for running a physical SAN and/or NAS device in their lab and also for those of you wanting all important hands-on time with running a VNX (albeit a virtual version) for educational purposes.

This VNX VSA webex session will appeal to those of you who like to run their own VMware vSphere lab or to existing or potential EMC VNX customers wanting to kick the tyres on the virtualized version of the VNX unified storage platform.

Later Viewing:  If you can’t make it along, don’t worry as a recording will be made available later.

EMC Live Webcasts–June 2011

EMC

Thought I’d pass this on… I just had an internal email through notifying of the EMC Live Webcasts for all things EMC & VMware (with a little Vblock thrown in for good measure) for June 2011.  There are usually some really interesting sessions for EMC and non-EMC customers alike who are looking at or have already started virtualizing, particularly with VMware.  A personal favourite of mine is Chad’s Choice which this month falls on the 30th – always informative with plenty of techy info.

If this sounds like it could be of interest check out the full schedule here.
